OUT OF LA
I created Out of LA to inspire you to break free from routine, get out of your head and into the wild!
I believe that our experiences with nature have the power to heal and my mission is to make our connections with nature, ourselves, and with each other more accessible to all!
I provide travel inspiration as well as practical information to make adventuring a reality.
Though I find the idea romantic, I know most of us can’t just sell all our possessions, quit our jobs and hit the road in pursuit of the vagabond life. But it really is possible to balance the real world and our commitments with our passions and desire to explore.
My guides were created for YOU! To provide tips directed toward different budgets, interests, and lengths of stay, as well as short videos, photographs, and anecdotes of my own adventures to share the light of the landscapes in this magnificent world.
Of course our vocations have something to do with it.
I trained as a nurse at UCLA, where I earned my MSN, and my ultimate grace is where I have managed to integrate patient care with travel, photography, and human kindness. Commitment to this ultimate pursuit is how I practice.
As defined by my experiences as I am my ambitions.
We are all ephemeral beings, but this is what I do know:
I am at my core a lover,
I seek people and experiences that inspire, and in turn wish to give the same.
I have found it is often not until we are shaken – faced with big change, loss, failure, illness, or even great love that we are able to understand our own biography, our “about me”.
In recent years I have felt the pride of great success as well as the pain and embarrassment of loss and failure.
It was in the enclosure of some of my darkest days that I discovered my interest in photography, cultivated my passion for travel, and felt my greatest drive toward human compassion.
And where I learned to combine the three is where I found the light – as one does at the emergence of Tunnel View in Yosemite National Park.
I believe that travel has the power to heal.
My Mission //
My mission is to make a tiny dent in our perceptions of our own limitations.
To make our connections with nature and with each other more accessible.
To see and shed light via the landscapes of this magnificent world.
Stars Shine Their Brightest When Confronted With Darkness.
Why Do I Travel?
It calls on perspective whether by humility afforded by the vastness of nature, or the way others live their lives.
It inspires gratitude for the thrill of seeing something new, as well as for the beauty already existing in the folds of everyday life.
It empowers me. Getting lost, overcoming the inevitable obstacles that come with a departure from our comfort zone makes me feel strong, as does the confirmation that I haven’t let setbacks stop me from pursuing what I love.
It sheds insight into alternative healing, and in general, different ways of doing things.
It sets the tone to encounter some of the world’s most extraordinary people.
